Heavy rains in California over the past two weeks have caused flooding, power outages and road closures in a number of locations across the Monterey Peninsula. We’ve created this page to provide the latest updates and links to monitor conditions.

The Salinas River did not flood over the long weekend (1/14 - 1/16) and the highways 1 and 68 north of Monterey remain open. Storms have let up and the forecast is dry through the next week.

Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:37 a.m.

Authorities anticipate that the Monterey Peninsula will get cut off from the north and east by flooding on Highways 1 and 68 at some point between Thursday, January 12 and Sunday, January 15. Monterey also cannot be reached from the south via Highway 1 right now due to closures in Big Sur.
