The China Scholarship Council and Middlebury Institute offer 100% tuition scholarships, plus stipends to help cover travel costs, living expenses, and return airfare for 20 students each year in eligible programs.

The Middlebury Institute is the only school in the U.S. that has partnered with the CSC to offer this prestigious scholarship opportunity.

CSC-MIIS Scholarship

The Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) have partnered to offer the CSC-MIIS Scholarship. This scholarship will cover the full tuition costs for 20 students each year at the Middlebury Institute in certain in-person master’s programs (see below). Additionally, the CSC will provide a stipend to help cover travel costs, living expenses, and return airfare.

Degree Programs

The CSC-MIIS Scholarship will fund up to 20 students annually across the following degree programs:

Eligibility

To be considered for the CSC-MIIS scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a citizen of the People’s Republic of China.
  2. Be under 28 years of age at the time of application.
  3. Receive an offer of admission from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
  4. Satisfy at least one of the following:
    • hold a bachelor’s degree and have experience working in an international organization as an intern or other type of work for at least six (6) months or
    • be enrolled in the final year of a master’s degree program or
    • hold a master’s degree.

Planning for Expenses

Students are required to pay mandatory student fees, which are not covered by the CSC-MIIS scholarship. During the visa process, students will likely be required to provide proof of personal / family funds showing they have enough to cover living expenses while enrolled in the degree program. In prior years, the stipend provided by the CSC did not cover all living expenses and students will need additional funds to support themselves while enrolled.
