Financial Aid Application and Instructions

Submit your application for financial aid as early as possible or at the same time you submit your application for admission. Do not wait to be accepted by MIIS to apply for financial aid. Aid is awarded on a first come - first served basis. We will request any items necessary to complete your financial aid file, and we cannot make an aid decision until you have been accepted to MIIS. Our financial aid budget does run out, so you should send a complete application to Student Financial Services as soon as possible to ensure the best possible chance of receiving aid. Put your name on all documents, keep photocopies of everything you send us, and keep a record of the date that you mail each item.

Below is a checklist of the basic documents necessary to complete an application for financial aid. Supplemental information will be requested if necessary.

U.S. CITIZENS

• Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey Financial Aid Application.
• If you are interested in Federal Work Study or the Federal Student Loan Programs you will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online at: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa after October 1 of each year. If you are selected for Federal verification we will need to collect your Federal tax returns and W2(s) as well but you will be contacted by our office directly if we need this paperwork.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

• Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey Financial Aid Application.

DEPENDENCY STATUS

Students who have not attained a Bachelor's degree may be considered eligible for certain Federal Grants. For that reason, we require that you complete a FAFSA before we will award any Federal Student Aid to you.
