Admissions Criteria

To be eligible for this program, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Demonstrate bilingual language proficiency in English and Spanish on our Language and Skills Test. (The link to take this test will be sent to you after you have submitted your application.)

Admission Decision

We will notify you of our admission decision four weeks after receiving your Language and Skills Test.

Application Checklist

Online application, which includes the following:

  • Essay

    • Short Answer 1: What are your reasons for taking this program?

    • Short Answer 2: Please describe your past training and work experience, especially any experience as a translator or interpreter as well as any certifications that you have.

  • Résumé or Curriculum Vitae

    • Your résumé or CV should highlight your educational background and professional experience, including voluntary work and internships, in one or two pages. Be sure to include any experience you have (paid or volunteer) in translation or interpreting.

  • $50 Application Fee

    • Our online application will prompt you to pay the $50 application fee with a credit or debit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express credit or debit cards. Application fee waivers may be available for students affiliated with our partner organizations or schools.

  • Language and Skills Test
    • In-country experience

    • Bilingual language proficiency as demonstrated on our Language and Skills Test

      • You will submit a Language and Skills Test (LST) to demonstrate proficiency in each of your languages of study.

      • You will work bi-directionally between English and Spanish. This program therefore requires native or near-native abilities in both languages.
